Sunday, May 25

Our 6th Anniversary! It wasn't much in the way of a grand day, but I did get to spend time with my hubby ( + 3 kids ). We did alot of reminiscing about that beautiful day, and also took a look at what 6 years has brought us; my first daughter, his first son, and so many wonderful memories that will last us a lifetime. We are also grateful for a daughter that Bob didn't think would want anything to do with him and she turned out welcoming us into her life and now has added a son-in-law and a beautiful grandaughter to our list of things to be grateful for.

Alot of times we (mostly me) dwell on the bad things that have happened or are happening to us in our lives at one time or another, and we don't take the time to see all of the wonderful things that surround us everyday...like children's smiles and their laughter, those are the little things, the most beautiful things and we take them for granted. Don't take anything for granted live life to it's fullest and dance like no one is watching.

Fishing Fun

On a lighter note Bob, Dakota, Skylar, Dylan and myself went fishing Sunday at a pond near Bob's work and we had a blast. Dylan got the first bite of the day which turned out to be a snapping turtle, and yes we did let it go. No turtle soup for us. lol Although Dylan boasted the most catches for the day, I have to say that Skylar was a very close second place and I think she caught the biggest. Dakota was upset that he wasn't the pro fisherman that he normally is when he goes fishing with his dad and his uncle John. But we let him know that we were helping Skylar and Dylan and that he was fishing all by himself. I think that made him feel a little better. We did let most of them go back into the water until we were being stalked by a Blue Herron I think, so we gave him a few fish so he soon realized we were no threat to him and he went back to his perch for the rest of the time we were there.
After that we went and ate lunch and no it wasn't seafood it was McDonald's. We also stopped at a road side stand and bought a crate of strawberries. YUM!! Then we went home and just chilled the rest of the afternoon. I love my life.....

Tuesday, May 20

It was today, a year ago today, but it was a Sunday not a cloud in the sky. A picture perfect day, a day that no one saw coming and no one that is close to our family will ever forget. It was the day my precious three year old daughter told me that she was being molested by our neighbor, that was the day that I will never forget. I will never forget the innocent look in her eyes as she described to me what had been going on what she thought was ok because it was an adult, a dad, her best friends dad that was doing these things to her. It was so hard for us to wrap our head around what she was telling us but we all knew these were things that no three year old could make up.
It has been a long road for us with the legal system and on June 9th we should be able to get an idea of when this will finally go to trial. There has been so many crazy things that have went on with this from the Assistant DA who changed jobs right in the middle of the case to winter holidays for anyone from the attorneys to the judges, to a lot of mishandling of paperwork and just generally the slowest back woods legal system in NC. You would think that being out here in back woods USA they would have just strung him up and skinned him (would have been ok with me), but instead they set bail and he got out, they told him that he shouldn't stay at his house (which is right next door) so he moved to Florida to live with his dad and now at least until the trial he is free to do whatever he wants without any recourse. No one is watching him, no one is making sure that he is not doing what he did to my daughter to someone else's daughter, and that little girl might not have a big mouth like mine, she may not have the courage or feel safe enough to tell her parents.
Everyday I thank god that I raised my daughter to trust us enough to tell that someone was doing something to her that she wasn't sure was right or wrong. And although some days that big mouth gets her into trouble I know that it is a blessing one that I will always praise her for having and I will always thank god for giving it to her.

Friday, May 16

Today I went to the hopital and got my epidural steroid injection for my herniated disc. It was not much in pain difference from getting an epidural for labor. It didn't numb my legs or anything like that and the cortisone doesn't really start to work on pain relief for several days. After it kicks in it could last from a few weeks to a few months. I'm hoping the later.
Things have been quite busy around here lately our neighborhood is hosting it's first ever community yard sale May 24, and I am doing some serious purging. So far I have gone through 10 large totes and out of that so far 5 are empty, unfortunately I still have about 5 totes of baby/ toddler clothes to go though and that is my definate weakness. When it comes to getting rid of that stuff I find it very hard to let go.
